Kohls is a clothing - shoe - houseware- department store that runs sales and promotional gimmicks (like "Kohls cash") and sends out coupons on a regular basis.
The review goes like this:
A few months ago I would have given Kohls really high marks for good selection, great return policies, and great prices. That was then, but something has changed. A couple of months ago I bought my daughter a pair of pants. Of course the price tag was high, but Kohls prices are (or were) never ever what the tag says. When the cashier rung up the pants I was surprised that no markdown was applied. The cashier was surprised too, thinking it must be a mistake, and when finding out it wasn't telling me that she thought it was the first time ever that there was no mark down to the regular price.
Too bad, too sad for me who had a daughter in need of pants immediately.
Possibly a weird fluke, but I have noticed on a couple of recent trips there that prices have gotten much higher and markdowns much less. Clearance racks have much less and are still not always thrillingly low priced. Higher prices are just how it goes during these times, I understand, but it seems so sudden, so dramatic. Also, my observation of what is being sold is that some of the selections seem to be last years leftovers. Maybe just same styles being sold? I don't know.
Kohls still has a wonderful return policy and a still decent (even if not as great as past years) selection of clothing and housewares, but the higher prices are disappointing. I give the Kohls shopping experience of late a 5.75. Maybe a 6 if I have a coupon...
