Happy Birthday or Whatever Track Suits, Kim Chee, and Other Family Disasters by Amy Choi
Before I bought it for my Kindle I saw that she was compared to David Sedaris, which turned out to be about right, although, as you might expect from a Korean young woman, not quite at the over the top raunchiness in experience or telling of.
The review goes like this:
What is it like to grow up in America in a Korean family who still wants to be Korean but wants you to succeed in America? To deal with customs from two different cultures? Amy Choi writes of her childhood and coming of age as a Korean American. Choi's family gives her plenty of material to work with and she presents it humorously, even when the undertones are really not so funny.
A short, sometimes crass, fairly humorous, decent poolside read.
